A recent air travel survey showed that Mumbai earns it revenue more with international flights. This means that the airport and travel industry avidly encourage foreigners to travel to Delhi via Mumbai. This ensures that these passengers get off at Mumbai airport and sightsee on airline buses for a few hours. In comparison domestic flights are usually discounted and do not bring in much revenue. The study revealed that domestic flights from Mumbai to Delhi were primarily manned by students and tourists. These flights increase in number during the summer vacation time. However domestic flights suffer during state and national election periods.
