Flights from Delhi to Mumbai - the reasons:

Since 2002, there has been an increase in the number of airlines between the two powerful Indian cities. Consequently the number of domestic and international flights from Delhi to Mumbai has also risen dramatically. Air travel and airfare from Delhi to Mumbai has gone up by more than 83.6% since 2005. The capital city of India, New Delhi presents many diverse hues of power, foreign investment, history, literature and fashion. Delhi is the seat of education and attracts many medical and technology students. Mumbai is the glamour, fashion and industrial city of India. The Mumbai airport of Chatrapati Shivaji, receives many inbound and outbound international flights. Mumbai is a port city where foreign investment and trade is given a great boost. But, everything has to go via the capital city of India. As a result, flights from Delhi to Mumbai are heavily booked.

A recent air travel survey showed that Mumbai earns it revenue more with international flights. This means that the airport and travel industry avidly encourage foreigners to travel to Delhi via Mumbai. This ensures that these passengers get off at Mumbai airport and sightsee on airline buses for a few hours. In comparison domestic flights are usually discounted and do not bring in much revenue. The study revealed that domestic flights from Delhi to Mumbai were mainly occupied students and tourists. These flights increase in number during the summer vacation time. However domestic flights suffer during state and national election periods.
